1988 Ford F-150 4x4
I have a 88 F-150 4x4 auto. Engine is tired. I have a 1978 Ford motorhome with a 460 auto with 42K on it and the motor home is about shot. Will the 460 bolt up to my 88 trans? What am I in for?
Thanks,
Bob

Since they did not put 460's in F-150's, you must have a 300,302,or a 351. To swap in a 460 you would have to put in a transmission from a 460, and the only computer-controlled trany behind the 460 is E4OD.
You will have to get a computer from a F250 460 also, and somehow make it work. You will need to covert the engine to MFI.
There is allot more that needs to be done for it to work, this will all cost big bucks$$$, and will be a pain to do.
I suggest you rebuild the engine in the truck, unless you want to go through conversion, I could go into more detail.
It would be easier if you kept the carburetor setup, and slapped in a C6, other than converting the truck to computer controlled. You can forget about passing emissions cause it would never ever pass.
