I purchased a billet aluminum inside rearview mirror and it will not stay put on the glass. It mounts the same as all glass mounted mirrors with the small metal tab glued to the glass and then the mirror arm slides over it and is set with a allen screw. The auto parts mirror mount kit with the cleaner stick and glue is no good; have tried (2) but it want stay on. Super glue works but a month later the entire mirror ends up in my lap after a hot day in the sun.I can't be the only one that has had this problem;help me out.
I am sure you did, but did you clean the area with alcohol?? My kit came with some acid that etched the glass a bit and now that I realize that the mirror is off center I CANT get it off.
I think two important parts of installing them is to clean it very good and after you glue it up to tape it up good with duct tape overnight before you mount the mirror. Mines been back up several years now so far. Of course it'll be laying in the floor in the morning noew. lol

The glue the glass companys use when they install a new windshield in a vehicle is ALOT stronger than the stuff you can buy at an autoparts store. Could give one a call, and see what they will charge you to put the button on (can't be that exspensive
muchtomydelight: I've found using a cresent wrench, you can usually apply alot of twisting force to break the glue without breaking the glass.
I've been down this road a number of times. First the mirror would wind up in my lap too. This happened 3 or 4 times. Then I changed to an epoxy glue and got the thing to stick. First hot day, i had a chunk of windshild break out with the button and again I had the mirror in my lap .... and a hole in the windshild. Not to be outdone by a mirror, I welded up a bracket that went under the sun visor clips around the seal and down the windshild. Then I welded the button to the bracket. Works pretty cool, and has been in place for about 6 years now. I've given up on glue!
