Thanks for the info everyone. Ray, I'm still getting spark on the two plugs, so I don't think I need new ones, but I may be wrong. I think it's best for me to go ahead and rebuild it since I will likely end up doing it eventually I might as well get it done now.

I'd love to see pics of your engine build if you find the time. I've built a lot of engines but, never a flathead. I'll eventually rebuild mine too.

It seems flathead builders always discover cracks in the block that are often not serviceable yet, it was running fine before it was taken apart. That's why I'm not rebuilding mine yet. It's tired but, runs pretty good

Good luck with your build and please keep us posted.
