I bought a aluminum flatbed 2 weeks ago. My stock bed is just about ready to blow off into the wind its is rusted so bad. Anyone install one? I have a few quotes out to shops to have them do it. I know the fuel filler neck is a issue that needs to be figured out. Im not sure of the cross rails and mounting. thanks Jeff

I have installed 4 so far on my trucks, What brand flatbed did you go with? And any Pics?
Its a Duramag 7' . It has led lights and side rail inserts. I didnt realize when i bought it they were for universal fit. I just found out Duramag sells them built for for trucks with the proper attachment for them. This was 1700.00 so grabbed it for that price. SO i made some calls and a shop that sells Duramag will install it. they get 500 basic install, + 100 for fabricating they mounts i will need,+ 100 to cut and weld a fuel filler cup into the bed, and includes mudflads. Also the load reducers are installed for the lights . total is 800.00 they told me. So either way i need to fab the attachment, buy fuel filler parts, load reducers for the light and mudflaps if i want them. I may go this route still not sure, I plan on taking a ride there Monday and looking at the ones they have, take a few photos then decide in doing it myself.

Sounds Like a Plan, My guess is they would be willing to sell you the parts / mounts if you want to do it yourself.
One way they can be mounted is just simply make your own spacers with poly lumber and then use or make U bolts that go around the flatbed frame and the truck frame, If that makes sense.
I always purchased my beds thru Pine Hill Trailers in Ronks PA, They make their own brand called Jutland. After purchase I go straight to the welding shop I used to work at and make my own accessories.
Pine Hill would gladly ship you any brackets / mounting bolts etc if your local place doesn't help you out. Ask for Wayne if you call.
i put one on my 04. a 35 year old scott aluma-lite.
4X4 on the rails for spacer, and 6 u-bolts. the only issue i had was the truck frame is 36 inches center to center, the body was made for a 33 inch center to center.
so the body rails do not sit perfectly over the truck rails. thus the 4 inch wide spacer.
the 4 inch height of the spacer gives plenty of room for the fuel fill hose.
the fuel fill cap is mounted directly to the bottom of the bed side rail.
to compensate for the LED lights i mounted in the bed, i have a set of simple 4 inch round tail lights mounted on each side of the trailer hitch.
total cost to mount the bed was under $100 and 4 hours work.
