Just reading through here... Some of you guys towing under or around 12k might be better suited looking at the F150 Ecoboost HD. Unless you are pulling a GN or 5th wheel.
My F150 3.5 eco has more power than my 6.2, but can't pull my gooseneck. I have a set of light duty 33" Toyo AT on the factory 20s and it looks great without a leveling kit and rides like I am on a cloud. Really good mpg.
You would just need to be aware overall the wear and tear factor of the lighter duty truck.

Obviously not as heavy duty as a Super Duty but probably would work for a lot of people complaining about mpg and power. Can even get the 6.5 ft bed and crew cab.

You can download the 2017 F150 brochure (pdf)
Here's a link to the latest order guide that I can find.
A little light reading...

Complexity = Headaches... which is why I think most fellas go to the 6.2 in the first place. To be sure there are mountains of happy EB owners, similar to 6.7 PSD owners. However, I can also find mountains of unhappy EB and PSD owners too. Unhappy 6.2 owners? Yeah, not so much, except for the misinformed dude who gets 3.73s or thinks it should tow like a diesel. YMMV.

The 3.5 Eco, twin turbo gas motor with direct injection. Not that complicated really. Higher repair cost and more things to break but nothing like a diesel.
So if mpg is an issue and you aren't heavily working the truck or pulling a GN or 5th wheel my suggestion is to also look at the F150 eco.. gonna pull the same load better anyway and you get turbos to help if pulling at high elevations. Way cheaper than a diesel too, just don't expect to snowbird all your stuff in a 5th wheel across the country with an f150.
