I was also told that the person that inspects the molds for snugtop was on a prolonged family emergency leave so wasn't there to inspect them. And yes according to my Snugtop/Leer dealer, Snugtop owns Leer, and leer make their molds. I want to see pictures once you get it. I couldn't wait for the Snugtop as my wife has a hadicap scooter and I wanted it out of the rain and undercover and lock.
Is your truck white platinum tri? Is the shell a different white? I'm getting ready to pull the trigger one a shell in the next two weeks but I have not see any plat tri coat white color that match exactly or do they not do this color?
thanks
Yes it is white platinum, so is the shell, almost perfect match. Just looks different in the picture do to the different angle of the shell to the truck.
My Snugtop Xtra Vision shell with all of the bells and whistles finally arrived after a 6 month wait. I have to say that I am a little disappointed. I have another Snuptop that is 12 years old and It is deffinately higher quality than the new one! The fit of the new topper is excellent but the rear window has a cheesy flap that is supposed to keep dust out and the lower formed rail does not seem that it's attached very solidly. There are large gaps on each side of the cheesy flap and I guarantee the dust will poor in. The latches, hardware and trim metals are thin and a large downgrade to my 12 yr old topper and I guarantee they will not last long. Also, the cab flip up window will not shut without pushing down on the shell itself and it is not a good seal on the lower corners. I was so excited but my excitment was dramatically deflated once I received my new Snugtop. I'll be the cheesy metal and hardware saved them no more than $40 per topper but it will cost the consumer many $ down the road when the components start to fail. This is not right considering I just dropped $4300 in this new topper and the 12 year old super solid one was only $2400. I'd hate to see what a supposedly inferior shell is put together these days like an ARE or Leer.
I suppose quality may depend on which model of Leer you buy. I have the Leer 100XQ (top of the line) and 10 years ago it was one of the best I could find. Sure, there have been some issues. The latch mechanism is kind of goofy but all the windows work well.
If a new topper is going to cost me $4200 then the topper mfg's can kiss my behind.

I didn't mind spending $4300 IF the topper was of the highest quality and it is NOT the quality of theold one. Yes, I did have the roof rack channels, dog screens and electric window latch added that my last one did not offer but it IS a whole lot of money to drop on the lower quality it is to my 12 yr old Snogtop.
I bought my topper sight unseen. Now? I don't think I would buy one unless I could put my hands on it and check it out. My current topper is on a '07 Nissan Titan. At the time the only way you could find one for that truck is by ordering it. They had quite a few toppers in stock for Ford, GM and Dodge. Zip for Nissan. Now that I have a Ford I hope that is still the case.
I went with the ARE. I have had LEER and Snug Top. Looked at both and the ARE seemed to fit better and I really liked the lines. All 3 are good shells.
