Stripped, how do you mean? The corners are so rounded off you can't get a hold of the fitting? Or the threads are somehow so mangled the thing won't come out (which I wouldn't understand, stripped threads usually result from overtightening but I've never seen one that can't be removed when that happens)?

Just use the Visegrips first before doing anything else. But as I said you need to have a good pair with sharp teeth.

I like the Vice-grips idea and is probably something I would try if I ran into something like that. Failing that, there are specialized extractor tools for this kind of job but I'd try the vice-grips first.

The thing was seriously rounded, but the vise grips got it! Used the teeth in closer to the handle. Thanks gentlemen, I am eternally grateful. Be back soon with some other question, I'm sure. Cheers.
