2011 Flex Entertainment system issues
I have a 2011 Flex Limited with the integrated entertainment/navigation system. I have a couple of problems with it. First is the left rear DVD player, DVD A on the touchscreen. It will not turn completely off either from the rear seat or dash touch screen.
The second, and bigger problem is the CD player in the dash, inserting a CD results in a spinning disc icon and "analyzing disc" followed by on the bottom right side "bad disc or unrecognised format". using a CD player cleaning disc did not help. As a result I am unable to update my navigation system software.
Short of pulling the whole system out (and rendering the vehicle unusable) is there any way to find where the problem is and fix it?
Thanks.

Replacement didn't fix it, but UPS had beat it up a bit, so that was a ??? issue. Got another one, but before I tore the interior apart again, I decided to try something. My driver's side rear DVD player, DVD A, was staying on no matter what. There is a TSB from Ford, 11-3-30 describing the problem. Apparently, with DVD A on, the dash unit is either locked out or unable to properly read either a CD or DVD. I removed DVD A from the driver's headrest and unplugged it. Went and got my update discs and everything installed like it was supposed to.
