Torch and pb blaster

I am trying to remove my drivers side manifold myself. I have been spraying the nuts w pb blaster for 3 days. I was also planning on hitting it w a torch. How long do I need to worry about the blaster being flammable?

Not sure on the flammable rate of PB blaster. Are you using a Propane or MAP gas torch?

Aerokroil is rated higher but more expensive then PB Blaster, you can also use ATF/Acetone in a 50/50 ratio which is stronger then both, need a all metal contaier for it though.

Have you purchased any stud extractor's? What engine? Guessing a V10.

any petroleum based product is very flammable.. WD40, PB Blaster, Acetone...

Fyi, acetone is available at Wal Mart of any paint store...

I get it by the gallon.

Heat it up real good then grab it with a pair of vise grips and try to turn it. If there's nothing left to grab drill it and use an extractor to try getting it out.

I bought a metal oiler can like below. Plastic hoses will melt from the atf/Acetone mixture.

Good ideas, thx, but back to my original question, when is it safe to use torch. Should I wait an hour, day, week after using on blaster?

Maybe spray it on. Let stand overnight and then try with torch. If you're real worried you could hose it off with some water before torching it.

We heat bolts (not that small) cherry red and as soon as it start to go black spray the daylights with Kroil, the heat will draw it down the threads.Smokes a ton but no flames. Also rap on it right after with a hammer. Heat it 3 times. If that doesn't work get some wax, bees wax works best and heat it again and touch the wax to it and it'll draw in and help lubricate the threads.

I have only ever experienced smoking from pb, especially if it was allowed to soak. Even wet and shiny just meant it would smoke a bit more. Spraying it on hot bolts that are too hot is a waste since it fries off.

It is safe to heat it with a torch right up until it catches on fire.

Seriously...you could just test it on something else. Spray it...let it sit a bit and then heat it with a torch. Make a mental note of how long it takes the heat.

And have something on hand to put the fire out just in case. I have also had good luck breaking bolts/nuts loose by tightening them and then loosening them. Good luck man.

I use Kroil oil, spay them, let them sit overnight and the studs should come right out the next day.

Keep a spray bottle of water handy to extinguish any flames. It will ignite, and it won't cause any damage unless there's wiring or plastic very close by. Also, wet rags are great for protecting things from flames. I'm a welder. Don't ask how I know.

Also, I use the atf/acetone mix but I just keep it in a lab type polyethylene bottle. It works well, and it's cheaper than sprays. I've had some trouble getting the mixture to dissolve however and usually need to shake it up while using.
