Found a company on line selling Genuine Ford OEM navigation upgrade kits for Ford F-350, for $799. They claim the units are factory Ford units & come with the newest nav. card, & work just like the factory installed unit. It is a replacement module that attaches to the rear of the 8" radio screen, plug & play. Has anyone used this unit from oemautopartsco.com

You have to make sure you have all the external parts needed to operate the nav too, like the gps antenna. Trying to add factory nav to a truck not originally equipped with it is a lot more involved than people realize.
I looked at some of those "factory" radio/Nav systems being sold on EBay. Here's the problem: Not all trucks come with the correct wiring harness to work with the higher-end optional entertainment/NAV Ford Sync package. XL trucks, for example, don't have the correct connections.
They will set you up with everything you need, and the installation will look good. I went ahead and added the Sirius/XM tuner that connects right up also. They even can provide the CANBUS interface so certain functions like rear view camera when you go into reverse, screen brightness changes when you turn on the headlights, etc. The one I bought even has the Garmin NAV with the RV/Semi settings, so it can avoid low bridges and tight corners if you pull a 5th wheel, for example. The whole thing set me back about $1,100.00 and an afternoon of installation time.

I understand that some folks want factory only. But as noted, be prepared to spend and be prepared for the fact that your truck might not be set up for a "plug & play". Just because it's a Ford unit doesn't necessarily make a direct swap.
So I pretty much did as Kelly did, only with a different brand of head unit. I went with the satellite & navigation modules for my double DIN unit as well as the install kit and Maestro module to retain steering wheel controls. You will most definitely need a separate antenna for GPS, it doesn't work off the satellite radio antenna.
While I've purchased a couple of head units/install kits from Crutchfield and overall am happy with their tech support, you still need to do a little research on your own to make sure that you get all the correct parts.
They swore to me that no antenna adapter was needed to put a Pioneer unit into my 2007 Mustang. 100% incorrect. Local Best Buy installers told me which adapter was needed and sold me one. Then I finished the install.
They also told me that I could not use the factory satellite radio antenna with my Jensen head unit. While technically they were right about there being no adapter to do this, it can be made to work with no cutting/splicing of the factory wiring. The antenna is plugged into my Jensen and I've been getting satellite radio in my new truck for over 3 weeks now.

I've looked at that website too. I bet it really is plug and play as long as you attach the antenna. The one they supply is magnetic so it will stick to under dash structure. Call them and ask them questions. It appears they sell a lot of them.
Aftermarket wouldn't cost much if any more and would get you a better stereo to boot.
My experience w Nav systems is they suck. They often don't take into account traffic or the directions are just plain wrong. The best system I have found is through google on my cell system. It is constantly tracking traffic and the fastest route. It is rarely wrong.

As well as some being expensive to update. Another factor to research whether looking at aftermarket or the factory unit the the OP is considering. If I read the ebay ad correctly, this is a module only with an SD card - not a complete head unit. If this is the case, no way in hell would I be paying $899. You can do a whole lot of head unit upgrade for that money.
Google Maps, free traffic, video while driving, backup camera, DVR, TV, KODI, any Android app....... They all work.
I have three of these units, the oldest one being 3 years old and all work great. There's a thread int he 7.3L forum about them.
I don't really have a need for any new head units right now, and my stuff is all Mac so Android does nothing for me.
But I'm curious if you had any trouble installing. I've read where guys had to do some trimming to get them in. So far I've had my Jensen in 2 trucks and my Pioneer in 2 cars. Installations fit nicely, no trimming whatsoever.
Well I took a leap of faith, and ordered a navigation upgrade kit, but not from the web site in the original post. The kit was $799. delivered with free shipping, with detailed instructions, & only two parts included, a Ford GPS control Module, & the latest navigation card. Your truck must have the Ford My Touch screen. Trim panels at the lower right & left of the radio bezel are removed, & electrical connections released, two 7mm screws are then removed, & the radio bezel can then be pulled free. The screen assembly is then released by removing 4 7mm screws. The screen is unplugged, & on the back you will see an aluminum control module which is removed with 4 screws. The new module is a direct replacement, all electrical connections are the same. The screen & bezel are reinstalled. Plug in the map card & it works just like it came from the factory, It responds to voice commands. I'm very happy with the way it works, & Sirius travel link can be installed. Don't know if I am permitted to post the web site as they are not vendors. Anyone want the rest of the info. sent a PM & I will answer any questions that I can & give the web site.

That is great that it works like it should!
You aren't going to get in any trouble on the forum for saying where you bought something.
So where the heck did you buy it?
