I am bolting on a bogerson double groove pulley on to my 1955 f100. The problem I am running into is when I bolt on the balancer bolt onto the pulley the pulley does not sit flush to the balancer. I thought bolting the balancer bolt and washer and then using two bolts to bolt on the pulley onto the balancer. Here is the rub the balancer washer is 1 and 3/4 in diameter. The bolts holes are 1 and 1/2 . The washer gets in the way of the bolts. Does anyone know if there is a smaller diameter balancer washer? I checked the pulley isnt hitting anything. Kind of stumped.
Is it possible to grind the washer in those 2 places? does the new pulley have a sleeve or insert that engages the balancer center hole? if so is it the correct size?
I think its the right washer for the balancer bolt. Never thought grinding it. I was thinking of going to junkyard to look for a washer that would fit this dimension. As long as it fits bolt and small enough to fit between the two bolts I guess it would work. Maybe grinding will work.
I didn't want to say anything earlier but I had that problem with a bolt on I bought at a swap meet. You sounded as though yours worked and I just chalked my problem up to buying something you really weren't sure if it was right. Just a thought can you install the harmonic balancer & pulley on without the crank washer? Seems to me my bolt on was as thick as the washer where it bolted to the damper.
