Had a set installed today, my truck was already pretty loud with flowmaster 40 series and the y pipe and bbk TB. After installing the Doug's the truck is noticeably quieter and has a odd tone to it now. Still have stock cat so I'm thinking that is making some flow restriction.
Positive side truck is quicker and they look really nice.
Is that the install hardware that came with the Thorleys?
Exhaust sound was completely different with mine after the Thorleys. I was running a lightning style exhaust with a Dynomax Ultra Flo SS muffler. Sounded pretty bad after the Throleys were installed. I was running a Dynatech cat before and still am. I put on a Flowmaster Force II system (buy the stainless system) which comes with the 70 BB2 muffler and it sounded much better. Not too quiet but not annoying either, has a thump to it. The FM 40 series mufflers don't have much capacity to them.
Interesting, the bolts were a new set I bought on Amazon in case any of the stock bolts broke.
With the 40 series it sounds like a tractor that is trying to haul ***, not a nice sound whatsoever. I did buy
Flowmasters newer hushpower 3" inlet/outlet muffler that is much larger than the little tiny 40 series. Going to put it on Tuesday and see what it sounds like. Read really good reviews on it but they were all on v8's.

I love my thorleys, I am running only headers, so no different muffler/cat and the truck is dead silent. At stop lights I have to look down to see the rpm's so I know the truck is still running. I love my headers.
order an extra set of collector gaskets.....nobody stocks them and the are unique to DTH's.....I just helped a friend with this........nightmare on elm street trying to find anything that would fit.....I offered to fab one up for his.....
My V-10 was a little bit more quiet after I installed my Banks headers, at that time the balance of the exhaust was still all stock. Recently I installed an Aeroturbine 3030XL muffler which has a decent sound for the hard to tame 6.8 exhaust note. Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums - Search Results
Another EX forum guy just put the Aeroturbine 3030 (the XL has a built in resonator, the 3030 doesn't) on his 6.8 that still has the factory manifolds, it's much louder. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...installed.html
Thanks for the replies guys, never had headers that made a vehicle quieter but it's a good thing I have a son on the way late November so I bought the Flowmaster pro series (Hush power) muffler to make it quieter, now since it is quite than ever just have to get the tone right. Wish I could post a pic of its current sound it is almost embarrassing lol

Collector gaskets?? The Thorleys use slip fit collectors. No gaskets. What gasket are you talking about?
On my neighbors chev P/u, which is a 2008 IIRR, so things may have changed, they (DTH), at the collector, they use a gasket (which his was leaking).......
I'm going to have this put on tomorrow and shorten the exhaust length to dump of before the rear tire, hopefully it sounds better after, heard nothing but good thing about the Pro Series Hush flow mufflers.
