Hi all
During my engine clean up and re-gasket before re-installing next week, I verified stamping on heads ECZ-G. What are the issues if any with these heads?
Receipts I got with truck show rebuild about 40,000 miles ago, bore .060 and these heads which I believe are the 1.92 intakes. Thanks.
Thanks. The re-seal is being done as part of detail during the overall frame off resto / mod / refresh etc. The build engine was done in the 90's, 40,000 miles ago. Had some weeps ad leaks here and there so just a freshen up.
Have you had a chance to drive it? Since it is apart, now is the perfect time to do a cam swap, if so desired. It is difficult to perform a proper swap on a Y if it is installed in the vehicle.
Oregon Cams can grind the '57 profile, which would be perfect for a street truck. An Isky E4 is also a good alternative. Both will have a smooth idle, with good vacuum - not even close to racing cam specs and will be much better than the correct '64 cam or the typical replacement cam that has been available from most vintage Ford parts vendors.
Thanks. I actually drove the truck when I first got it a few years back and it ran well other than carb issues. I am putting this one back in the truck cleaned up and fresh gaskets to drive for now and plan to find another 292 to build from scratch in the meantime. Will be looking at adding some Mummert goodies and such. But that's a little down the road a bit..
