Sorry, I couldn't find your post I was looking for. The one regarding modifications to your van. If this is not the place to discuss this, I am sorry, please point me in the right direction.
A guy came to measure one of our completed projects this morning for flooring. I had to meet him there. He pulls up in the badest assed E350 van I have ever seen. It was badged V10, Red, lowered, I think he had 19" rims, the exhaust note gave me chills, seriously. The freakin ground vibrated at idle. I was standing next to it when he started it up to leave, it was so cool, my insides vibrated when he goosed it a little before he drove out.
I don't have much info for you yet, I asked him about it and he said it was a company van, for me to call his boss about the specifics. But he said he thinks his boss did all the work and bought all his parts at a local dealer called 'Extreme Ford.' I am to meet with the boss on Monday anyway to go over some specs, I will for sure get specifics from him then. The time I met the boss, he was driving a Ranger. I'll let you know what I find....Rick

Sweet dude, thanks, that's exactly the kind of stuff I'm lookin for. I posted in the Superduty forum I believe. It reads "anyone ever lowered/tricked out an E-350" ? Or something similar, thanks bro, I mean it.

OK well I don't want to seem impatient, but it IS Tuesday, the day AFTER Monday, hint, hint, got any news ? (Seriously, thanks for the effort)

I found an Extreme Ford in Kansas, but didn't see anything out of the ordinary. I t looked just like any other Ford dealer. Can you get a little more info please ? Thanks.
Gonna by a SD pickup unless I can have a van like you have
described.
ken04,
Do you think the vans are overpriced for what you get?
Some pretty old tech and not nearly as complicated an interior
as a crewcab.
I've owned both but love vans.
Yea I'm dying to hear about the van also. Do I think vans are overpriced ? I dunno, I guess I never thought of it. I do know that you can buy the E-350 15 passenger vans very cheap, new and especially used, since there was all the media hype over them rolling. But they are only more susceptible to rollover with 2 conditions; being loaded with 12+ big people which raises considerably their center of gravity. And I think the most important factor is inexperienced drivers. Just like when 4WD pickups and SUV's were being ripped apart by the liberals who wantr us all to drive Volvo's, or walk, a van with heavy suspension and increased ground clearance in the hands of a driver unaccustomed to driving that type of vehicle can get into trouble. Just like the misaligned Suzuki Samarai, and others. Or look at what the liberal, deadbeat, good for nothing, sleaze-bag media did to Audi. Darn near killed them with their 'unintended acceleration' claims. On the flip side of that coin is it makes 1 or 2 year old E-350 vans pretty cheap to buy. But it also limits the amount of folks who will buy them, therefore there's not near the amount of aftermarket parts available. I remember the 70's when vans were HOT commodities. We all had tricked out vans, it was THE vehicle of choice. So definitely, go buy the van if you want something unusual. Nothing against Ford pick-ups, I love them dearly, and have had lots of them. But a trick van with a thumping V-10 and big wheels dropped into the weeds would not be something you'd see all over the place, which suits me fine. Now, if I could just get my Ford dealer to figure out what the heck is busting the insulators on the plugs of my wife's car I could spend some $$$ on my ride. But I tell ya what, I, nor anyone I have talked to so far, have EVER seen a problem like mine. Her car, a 99 Contour with the hot-rod 2.0 DOHC Zetec engine breaks plug after plug. It's the craziest thing I have ever seen. I am just about ready to trade it in on a non-Ford car. I love their trucks, but except for the Stang, there isn't a Ford car I would own, no way.
Know what you mean about Ford cars. I drive a '98 GT conv now and love that "bucket of bolts" but just had my first kid @ 42 and have to consider family camping and such.
Maybe it's my imagination but at least at the ford build site I'm always surprised that "my ford" van prices at $30K or better
for what still seems to be just a box.
Hard to find a converter that does something other than "people mover" so I might just get a chateau, I like the quad captains.
Bums me that they can't build a bench with headrests though.

I looked long and hard for a converter of E-250's and/or E-350's since my last van was an E-150 with the Mark III conversion. We loved it, drove the wheels of it with 190K on the old girl. But it just didn't have enough grunt to pull our camping trailer when we were all loaded down with all the 'stuff' you need to bring on a extended road trip with the camper. But I didn't find any, until after I bot my ClubWagon. So there are a couple out there.
Over $30K for a 'box' ? Bud, have you priced the new F series lately ? Over $40K for a half ton, over $50K for a loaded SD ? That $30K for a SD V-10 van looked mighty attractive once I compared it to other vehicles.
Wow, that was a long down time. My satellite dish got hit by lightning, (I connected to the internet via satellite) it fried my dish, my machine etc. New machine on DSL. I haven't seen the van again but did talk to the owner that said he did all the work. He said he ordered all the things he needed from Extreme Ford and from Bob Allen Ford, also in KS. (We are a suburb of KC.) He said a lot of the parts were meant for the F250/350 but that they bolted right on, some took minor modifications to get to fit. The work took him a little over a month (off and on.) I don't know much about suspensions but he said things like spindles, springs etc just bolted right up and dropped the body. I'll try and get a picture and better info for you.

Cool, cool, cool, cool, cool, that is exactly what I was looking for, the 'exact replacement from the F series'. I guessed that alot of the SuperDuty parts were interchangeable, so I know. Now I can tell some of these guys at some of the parts places that some of the parts do fit, and they just need to check. Now I normally get "well I don't think any of the parts interchange, you'll have to check it out then get back to us" (you'd think they expend even a little energy since they are charging me for the parts, but no). But now that I have that info I will be able to be a little more aggressive as I'm talking to them, thanks a zillion, Ken
