I just put an aluminum intake on my 390.
Torque spec 60-65 for a steel intake.
What should I have torqued the aluminum manifold to.
I torqued to about 40 is this too much I am afraid of damaging the intake. Should I pull the bolts out and put wahers under the bolt heads. If I elect to insert washers can I do one bolt at a time or should I pull all the bolts out and torque in sequence again, or just leave it as is.

And, when you take them out, do it in reverse of the installation torque pattern. And do it slowly... But, do it in reverse of the installation procedure.
I like Holley Cards, but try the 600 cfm first..If your after low end torque. If your 390 is set up to turn 6K rpm use the 750. Ive tried both..It depends on your application.
Well, I'm confused. Edelbrock says to torque to 25 ft-lbs. Is it different for different brands? I'm about to install a Performer 390 manifold on my truck. So which is it 25 or 32-35 ft-lbs?
Is that what they say? Then I'd go by the manufacturer's recommendations. The only different Ford spec I've seen for the FE is with the 406 at 24 - 28 ft. lbs. Don't know what the difference is.

Really? The instructions for my Performer 390 say 32-35 ft/lbs...
Well this was according to summitracing.com. I assume they got their info from Edlebrock. I think I will go with 32 lb-ft when I install mine. I bought it off ebay and haven't got it yet.
VX if your instructions say 32-35 then maybe summit is misinformed or maybe it's 25 for chevy's. How do you like your performer 390? What size/type carb are you running? Did you notice a huge difference over a 2bbl carb/manifold?
The difference was pretty dramatic. With the 2bbl/stock intake, my 352 had a hard time breaking tires loose from a stop. Now, I can light 'em up easily, sometimes without even trying! I also threw on a 670 Street Avenger at the same time, and picked up 1-2mpg (11-12 highway now) over the wheezy old 2-pot carb IF I can keep my foot out of it (which isn't often, it's too fun to drive!). In my opinion, the Performer 390 is a great intake for a street/work truck.
Cool!! That's what I was hoping to hear. I can light the tires up on my stock 390 but it takes a little effort. I bought the manifold with a carb off ebay for $200, but I don't know what type carb it is. The guy I bought it from said it has D40E-AA cast on the base, and from what research I've done it might be a Motorcraft 4350? I think that is 600 cfm, but I have heard bad things about this carb. I might go with a edelbrock 600 cfm carb.
Yeah, good luck keeping your foot outta it. Nice to hear you did pickup some mileage though. That was my selling point to my wife that it would get better gas mileage.
