I'm in the process of installing a pioneer double din. I'm down to the parking brake wire. I've searched around but only found confusing threads on this matter. So where do I connect the green parking brake wire on an 2005 Excursion? Thank you

Can you ground it temporarily with a piece of wire to see if it works? I know that some stereos people use a relay to get around the 'safety' that keeps the DVD player from running when the vehicle is moving. Personally, I saw no benefit to having the DVD player only work when the parking brake is on.
On mine I just connected it to the ground wire in the factory harness.
I just installed one in my Ex this weekend. If you remove the panel below the steering wheel and look in up towards the stereo location, you'll see a grounding point that's easy to access.

I Pioneer and all new speakers w/ a400w amp I didn't know what to do with that wire either so I left it for the time being.... once I was finished and powered everything up the sound was horrible... So I took it to Cartronics near my work and the guy that fixed my "speaker issues" said he had a specific part for $10 that could let it play when in motion or not... for all I know he grounded it but for $10 I figured it was worth it.. if needed I can find out what it is for you..
Hey! I did a MASSIVE audio install on my X last year. I don't remember exactly the green wire, I believe I purchased the wire hack to allow watching DVD while driving and the green wire connected to that.
There is something very important for you to know. The 4 rear speakers are wired together in 2ohms! Very bad to hook them up to your new head unit. It might be the cause of your poor sound quality, but it could also fry your new Pioneer as it wasn't meant to power speakers at 2 ohms. I would disconnect the rear speaker wiring. It's quite a big job to replace the 4 speakers with new wiring and amps like I did, but the results are outstanding! Read your manual to find out how it works. Some of the radios have to have a pulsed ground (so you "can't" just ground it to make it work). I always defeated those with a switch to ground on in that wire that you could turn on, off, and back on to make the DVD player work
Yes on a Pioneer you can`t just ground it. it needs to see an open and then a ground after its started. I installed a switch to do this. I don`t watch it when I drive, but on a trip it allows my wife to watch a DVD. I use a piece of cardboard to keep me from glancing at it.
I have a Pioneer in my truck and just bought and installed one of these. It comes with simple instructions on how to wire it up, and works perfectly. Be sure to find one that lists your specific model, but there will definitely be one available that works for it: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A9AQPUU/
I can pretty much guarantee it's what this guy did/installed...

Ok so I grounded the parking brake wire and to my surprise it plays DVDs while in drive. I kept seeing all these threads about how you need a bypass kit for pioneer but for some odd reason I didn't need one.
Now onto my bigger issue. Only my A channel (front speakers) on my amp is working. I'm pretty sure I wired it all correctly. I'm using a Kenwood 5 channel amp. All four door speakers are wired up except the stealthbox sub which is going in tomorrow. Could not having the sub connected cause this?
Ok so I threw in the towel and headed over to a local reputable stereo shop. What a great decision that was. I now have all 4 JL Audio door and 2 rear speakers hooked up along with the Stealthbox, powered with a pioneer double din and Kenwood amp. Wow it sounds amazing. I've never been a sound system guy but I am now. It was well worth the $300 to have them finish it all up.
