Well, its been a busy last couple months on the truck and finally starting to show! Tailgate done, running boards done, front and rear corvette bumpers done, most of the bodywork done, rusted roof gone, it has insurance, and is drivable. Love it when we all hit these milestones.. first just to get it home, then get it tore down, get it running, then driving..finally starting to see the effort pay off. been a quick 3 years!
There was another thread I posted right after this one that has nothing but the roof in it. I replaced the whole top of the cab from the middle of the pillars up. Way way easier then piecing in the roof skin and dealing with all the rust you can never get out of the pinch welds.
It's all in primer now. Complete Lexus front end in it with custom built mounts for a set of QA-1 coil-overs. With the Lexus ifs and the t bird irs in it it's just the way it sat. Rides unbelievable and handles good too.
Mine was a 97 Lexus sc400. The 300 is exactly the same so it won't matter which one you find. Goes in exactly like the crown Vic without the width issues. Drill 4 holes in frame, weld in crush tubes, box frame rails, and bolt in. Only thing I had to do was fab a rear trailing arm mount, and build an upper coil over mounting point for the QA-1's . Lower ones were just the stock location on the lower control arms. Pretty cool install. Easy, cheap, 12 inch discs stock, even used the factory steering assembly, and made a hose to go from the Ford pump to the Lexus rack. Factory Lexus sway bar even bolted up to the inside of the frame rails after they were boxed.
wow, I wish i'd seen this before I committed to the crown vic, even though it's been narrowed, I think the power rack Edward Richie used for it is going to give trouble. I could be wrong. it's installed, but not all connected.i went through hell narrowing the frame to get it in and make it semi-good looking. your front install looks great. did you have to run larger wheel sizes?
I've got a couple of questions, what lug pattern up front? if you have this info somewhere, how wide is that front end, brake rotor-to-rotor? (where rims touch) thank you. if you don't have the measurement, no problem.
Lug pattern is same as ford ( mustang) 5 on 4 1/2 or 114 mm. I can check the measurement when I get home. It's basically the same width as the stock front end. It's narrower then the crown Vic everyone is trying to use. I'll have to get the rotor to rotor width for ya.
