Heavy Towing with a 11+ F150
#16
The upgrade is tough to emphasize enough. HUGE difference in how the truck handles a heavy trailer between the two of them.
I've owned three vehicles with the 6R80, and one of them is the '15 Transit in my signature. I credit that transmission with how well the little 3.7L V6 moves a 6,300-lb van, 1,000 lbs of occupants, and 3,500 lb boat behind it. Does a fine job and never leaves me thinking it's underpowered, which is something I didn't think a V6 could do just a few years ago.
To paraphrase a recent Briggs and Stratton ad campaign: Transmissions Matter.

Towing
I know this is an older thread, I just signed up. I have a 2010 4x4 f150 bought it last August to work out of. It has the 5.4 quad cab 5 1/2 foot bed. Im very impressed with the towing. I've towed a 13000 lbs 5th wheel 400 miles with no issues and ended the trip with 7mpg. I've even hooked up a 40' gooseneck trailer with 2 cars on it and had no issues. The only issue I have right now an exhaust leak at the manifold and my 4x4 will not engage, it's gives me the check 4x4 light. It was working last yr and earlier this yr. it tries to engage but never does. Besides that its a workhorse of a truck.
