Looking for some help...

Ok heres my problem. I have a 68 f100, w/ new paint and pretty much perfect body. The engine is a 360fe that has around 200,000 miles on it, with leaks and blowby. But it still runs. Well it isnt licensed or inspected. Well the city said that i have to get it licensed or hide it from public view. As of now i have it in my garage, but my step dad wont let me keep it there. So what it comes down to is i eitehr need to get plates or sell it. Well i really cant afford to get plates because i do not have insurance and it would be way too much. Around 500$ most likely. And i dont want to sell it because i dont think i would get what its worth. I just graduated from highschool, well thanks in advance.

What are you driving now? Insurance on an old truck is probably cheaper than just about any other vehicle, especially if you get just the required liability.

If you got a long commute, then the gas milage could be a problem. Otherwise, a little work and you could have a daily driver.

If you have another vehicle, you shouldn't have a problem getting cheap collector insurance. I pay $200 per YEAR for a 71 Corvette and a 69 Corvette combined. That's based on a total value of $33,000. You should be able to insure the truck for dirt cheap on a realistic agreed value. I use American Collectors but Haggarty and the others are all similarly priced.

Historical plates are cheap and never have to buy them again(at least in Ohio). That will get it licensed.

As for insurance, do the same as mentioned. Specialized insurance with just a liability clause. It should be pretty cheap, few bucks a month.

That should keep the city happy anyway.

I am 19 years old with one speeding ticket. It was 64mph in a 45. How much do you think it would be. Maybe geico? Thats what my parents have. I have never had to mess with insurance because this truck was always insured under a company. Well Thanks.

EDIT:Haha im just saw that i am an "Elder" according to this site.

idealtrucks. Thay is unbelievably cheap for a 17 year old. We have a very reasonable policy and they want over 100 per month to add our 16 year old. You must be the only person on an island or something. Or you are on someone elses policy with the cars listed as Sunday only classics.

im on my parents policy. we have 5 cars tagged all together, so i guess it just gets cheaper with the more cars that you have. the mustang also has full coverage for that price.

CRJ900-

I registered my 1967 F-100 as an antique with vintage plates and I use it as a secondary vehicle- runs to the dump, taking my daughter and her bike to the park. My insurance is about 240.00 through GEICO and all I have is liability. No inspection required since it's an antique and not used for daily driving. I also have 3 other cars on our policy. I also have another 1967 that doesn't run- however I have acreage and I can hide it just fine-

Will you be using it as your primary vehicle? If so, you'll need to have it registered and inspected, plus obtain the personal property sticker from VA Beach. If you register with antique plates then you can't do daily driving with it-

You're on the radar with VA Beach so my suggestion is to register it whatever way you see fit, get plates, and get on your parent's policy for only liability to keep the costs down.

Good luck-
