Who has the most miles? Looking at used Exp's and wondering if the eco is going to stand the test of time and miles? Let me know how many miles and any troubles. Thanks.
I had a 2014 F150 with ecoboost. Good engine no real problems It should be a good engine for our Expeditions. I just picked up a 2016. Love it but man its quiet...
There are reports of EB engines with over 300K miles on them and then there are some failures too just like any other engine.
My 2011 has 67K on the clock and not one repair except plugs at 60K. The ecoboost engines will eat plugs. It's the nature of the game when you get into GTDI engines.
Lots of Fords in our family with both motors. My first 2011 5.0 my son has since 2013 no issues. My brothers 2011 eco boost only issues was the boots failing on the spark plugs. My 2013 5.0 needed a new head on passenger side then needed lifters at 70,000. My sons 2013 eco boost poor fuel mileage big tires. My 2015 Expy eco boost no issues. My brothers 2016 eco boost low fuel mileage but big tires. Now just got a 2016 eco boost and love it.
What are you calling low mileage? My 15' Expedition EL 4x4 full of fuel and my family weighed in at 7120 and I average 16mpg with a lot of city driving. I've gotten as low as 15mpg empty and 8mpg while towing 8500#. Our vacation trip with lots of 75-80mph freeway time I averaged 17.5mpg. My best ever tank while I was trying for the best mileage was 19.8mpg and that was still with a decent amount of city driving. Is that not good from a vehicle of this size and weight? I think it is.
Local Ford dealer salesman said the same thing. If you tow or drive 70 plus mph the mileage goes down. You guys are saying about the same thing. Thanks for the input. It always helps.
