Rear center caps

I have a 350 Platinum SRW. The rear wheel center caps stick out a good bit more than the 250's from what I see in the pics... Wonder if a 250 one will fit a 350 or does the axle stick out that much more on a 350?!

It depends....technically...you have two rims you might be seeing on a Platinum F250. the 645s or the 64Us. The 645s don't stick out as much because they don't have a "Full diameter cap" that covers the lugs. The 64Us have a full cap to cover the whole lug pattern. The 64U is the rim the 250 Plat gets with the HD tow package...therefore bigger cap.

Here are the two rims...you can see the hub size difference.

Ok - but they look like they cover the same. Lugs come through the cap. 250 with Max Tow gets the upgraded rear axle - like the 350 I have. Is the axle housing that sticks through the wheel larger than on those trucks? I would assume that Ford wouldn't just make a larger cap if they didn't need to... I'd really like to put the smaller caps on. Would match the front better and not stick out. I have not pulled it off yet. Just wondered if anyone had seen/noticed a difference on the trucks they are seeing on the lot as they come off the trucks - before dealer prepped and caps installed.

What's different on the rear axle? Thought they were the same on the 250 as the SRW 350?

That's a good question - and why I was posing this. Unfortunately it does detract a little from an awesome looking truck in my opinion. Slightly - but you can actually see it in the rear view mirror!

The F250 heavy tow and the F350 SRW use the larger DANA M275. The hubs are actually larger as well.

The lugs do NOT come through the cap on the 250 with the HD Tow Pkg. They are completely under that cap in the pic. On the fist pic...the 645 rim on the non HD Tow 250....the lugs are exposed and the rim is moulded around the lugs. Here's a closer pic of what I mean. There is no cap on the 645 Standard Platinum rim (w/o HD Tow pkg)

Thanks Swenson...that's what I said from day one and had a few disagree with me on the hub difference. Says is right there in black and white..."Upgraded Axle"
