Understanding Ratios?
Over the last few weeks I've been teaching my self what gear ratios are all about. But theres one thing that I can not understand. I see in all these fourwheel drive magizines where people jack there trucks up and they put really low gears in there rear ends. Why is this?It seems to me you would want a higher ratio. Because with a lower ratio the pinion turns alot more than the gear.Right? Which means your engine is turning fast whereas your tires arent. So if someone could explain this to me, I would apriciate it.
