I have a 1994 F150 5.0 that I got from someone else because they were tired of trying to figure out what is wrong. He had it running ok until he replaced the power steering pump and then he had to keep on the gas to keep it running and when he put it in Reverse it would quit. We got it moved then after a friend messed with it a little, we were able to get it to idle and it sounded really good, until he went to put it in reverse & it died. I am thinking to replace the Air Control Valve, but not sure if that would be causing it to stall when putting it in gear. Any suggestions?

 

check transmission fluid low fuid will cause the converter clutch to be locked and will kill the engine when put in reverse.
