Power steps

has anyone put the power steps on the 79 pickups? I'd like to add some to my super cab. If it can't be done reasonably then some diamond plate running boards for a super cab will have to suffice...if those aren't too hard to find.

Not anyone around here... if you can fabricate and weld then engineer your way into it...

This dealer installed accessory was the only thing that Ford offered for 1973/79's.

Just getting a set of quality power steps for a decent price will be the 1st issue, then it just the matter of cut, weld and modify.

AMP Research PowerStep Running Boards - Power Retractable Running Boards

Old school tread plate running boards, I am sure there is a cheap set on the Craigslist.

Yes I understand about the tread plate boards. Had em on my other 79. What I'm wondering is if anyone has adapted the amp style ones to our pickups. There's more than one part number for their power step kits, which one to choose to adapt is what I was getting at. If nobody has done it, I guess I'll print off their page and toss a dart to see which part number I order, bust out the welder and cobble something together.

On my work computer I have some pics of a awesome looking red 77 ish crew cab at a car show. That looks like a shop sponsored rig, and has the AMP elec drop steps.

I will attach those pics on Monday and maybe you can track down the company that sponsored it, it has lots of stickers and business signage.
