Surging betwee 2-3
I have a 97 Expy 2WD with 4.6, Tranny code 'U', axel code 'H7'. Sorry, I haven't yet found the code table. I remember seeing it but can't remember where. Anyway, I've used the truck to tow a ~5000 lb boat for the last 2 summers. Truck has 78000 on it. Tranny, differential and coolant changed at the end of each summer (appx every 15K miles). This summer the tranny has started surging before changing gears while under load (towing or just goosing the gas with no boat) between 2 and 3rd gear. Also, after towing on the road at 65 mph for an hour or so, if you stop at a light, when you accelerate from a stop, the truck feels as if it has greatly reduced power, almost like you are trying to move with your foot on the brake. The engine does not over-rev that I can tell (doesn't seem to be slipping), but it just feels like it has no power. It will stutter a bit and then surge forward and feels normal again. Any ideas?
