I just bought an '00 Expedition and want to upgrade the stereo. It's just the AM/FM cassette and of course I want to add a cd player. Should I go with the factory add on changer for the console? Although, I like the idea of an in-dash changer but what stereo will work for this application? I saw a ford 6 disc in-dash on ebay out of an '03 explorer I think but does anyone know if that stereo will work in my Expedition? Thanks in advance.
Hey bro. I have the stock AM/FM cassette w/ CD changer in my 00 Expedition. I replaced the door speakers with Kenwood Excellon and put two Boswick Competition 12's in the back with a 120 watt US Amp bridged to 2 oms. The stock head unit sounds wonderful. Also, prior to replacing the door speakers, the stock speakers sounded great...
How did you connect your amp to the stock stereo? Are you using the speaker output to feed your sub amp, or did you somhow tap into the line-level output from the head unit?
Also, I want to tap into the line-IN (to connnect a mp3 player) - I found a RCA adapter to plug into the cd changer, but it's like $80 -any cheaper solutions?
