ive got an 88 ford f-150 xlt lariat crew cab. its a nice truck and its in excellent condition. well anyway i recently had a pioneer headunit and 2 infinity speakers put in by professionals. i just stole 2 rear speakers out of a 94 buick century. im not certain, but im pretty sure there 6x9. ill have to look more into it later, anyway back to my question, how should i begin to hook these up? my truck only had door speakers orig, but with the new setup already in, i can hook up 4 i know, so im gonna put these 2 in. how would i go about doing that?
just buy some speaker wire and run it to the back. Do you have a place to put the 6x9? If not get some boxes for them. The are about $30 at bestbuy. I had to do it to my truck, works fine
your best bet is to get 6X9 boxes and mount them either low on the sides of the seats or high between the side and rear window. remember people in the back will hit their heads on high mounted speakers. the head unit has wires for front and rear output so just connect the new wires to the deck and there you go. don't use dogbones without heatshrink 'cause the wires will corrode in time and loose sound quality. if you're cheap just twist them together and use a hot glue gun on the ends(works on the farm).run the wires under the kick panels(the shiny things at the bottom of the door)to the boxes. its been a while since i've been at my kenwood head unit but if memory serves right the front black cover just snaps right out. goo luck and enjoy
