Thinking about the colors - black looks the best IMHO but it's dirty in an hour. Silver is easiest but doesn't have the same "pop." Grey (magnetic in f-series parlance) seems like a good compromise. Any magnetic owners care to chime in on their paint upkeep experiences? Swirl mark visibility, showing/hiding dirt, road salt, etc?
The magnetic is definitely an awesome looking color and a better time to hide dirt. Black is impossible. I don't have first hand experience but I can say I've seen a couple used '15s with magnetic and they still look great. Anything with that much metallic will hide swirls and minor chips well.
My 2015 Screw is silver, and we got that color specifically because we have a ~~ 1 mile gravel/dirt driveway. My wife's Tacoma is the Toyota equivalent to magnetic. We like the color of her truck better, but it gets dirty faster than mine. Mine actually has a fine film of dust all over it as I type this, but it's not really noticeable.
We have two trucks that are Sterling Grey which is close to magnetic and they are very easy to keep looking nice. You have to have a heavy layer of dust to show up from inside 5ft and they don't show swirl marks nearly as bad as black. Salt will show up, which is pretty tough to hide on any dark vehicle.
The truck I just got rid of was Ingot Silver, and it was a nice color. I think it was pretty and was easy to keep clean. I wanted the Platinum White this time around, but would have no reservations about buying silver again in the future.
Yeah, I've had 2 silver vehicles and they were the best from a paint maintenance perspective. Trying to split the difference, as it were, between silver and black. Black is outstanding for the first hour after a wash, clay bar, wax, and sealant. But then it's dirty within the hour.
Both my current vehicles (F-150 and 4Runner) are silver. My previous truck was gold, or whatever Ford called the beige color on the F-250s.
Both colors are really good for both hiding dirt and also reflecting the sun, which is a big consideration for me where I live.
I had a Trooper before the 4Runner that was dark green. I bought it with that color because I got a killer deal. I couldn't drive the thing the 1/4 mile to the mailbox and back without it looking like I just got back from a Baja adventure.
I love my Magnetic! I have had black, silver and many other colors this definitely the best at hiding dirt, I am picky and I have gone 3 or 4 weeks with out washing it.
