strange radio problems!
Hello. I have a 98 F-150 supercab, 4.6 liter, 5 speed 4 x 4, with am/fm radio with the 6 disk CD player in the panel behind driver door. Today I totally washed the inside of cab by removing all seats and using carpet cleaner, brushes and then spraying with a hose to clean the carpet (it was FILTHY) Ok, I let everything dry (though carpet is still damp) , replace seats and noticed this:
* radio will only play the station I was listening to while washing inside of truck - volume works fine
* I cannot change radio am to fm, change channels or play CDs
*there is no panel light on the radio. It is totally dark and doesn't show channel or clock
* if I turn key and try to play radio, it won't play unless I quickly switch on then off the windshield wipers.
* the rest of truck seems to function well
Ok, I went thru my owner manual but can't figure out what is going on here. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks, both! Ok, yea, maybe it was dumb to hose out inside of truck but it was filthy! Anyway, I was very careful doing it but it was about 95 deg out with 100% humidity. Would the humidity plus added moisture from the hosing have an effect on the wiring? Maybe if truck completely dries, it will be ok. Another thought - the disk player might of got wet. Would a short in the CD player screw up the whole radio system?
A hose used with a steam cleaner cleans the carpet just like new
i have tryed the same method on my cloth seats . I got stains out that i thought were there for good
