I found a nice looking 2010 F150 XL 4WD, 5.4L, 52K miles at the local dealer. The 2005 Tahoe that I drive is showing signs that it may be time to move on. In the last year, I've replaced the fuel pump, steering box, alternator and water pump. In my opinion, that's far too much to go bad for a vehicle with only 102K miles on it.
What are the strong points and weak points on the 2010 F150 with 5.4L?
BTW, I'm not new to Ford trucks. I've had three brick noses and one dent side, and still have a bricknosed F250 that I've been bringing back to life.
Last year of the 5.4 probably the best if you go by the logic of em working the bugs out. I'd really look a year later '11 or newer and find a 5.0 or ecoboost of course there is a 5.0 cylinder distortion issue. After typing that I think I made a case for the 5.4 far as I know the 5.0 cylinder distortion could affect up to '12.
To me that sounds like it could be a great find. But, it would come down to the dollar. If they're asking top dollar, and then some, then I'd have to look at a newer truck with possibly the some or a little more money.
With trade in and $2K cash, purchase price will be $13K that will need to be financed. The truck is as near as perfect as a truck could look...even the bedliner looks brand new. There's no scratches in the bed, comes with tonneau cover and nerf bars, as well as some sharp looking aftermarket wheels. The only chrome is the nerf bars, as everything else body color or black trim.
Due to reasons out of my control, I'll likely have to wait for Tuesday if I decide to purchase it, so it gives me a couple of days to cool off and let common sense settle in. Admittedly, I am excited about this truck.
That really does sound like a nice truck. But, for that kind of money, or a little more, may get you into a newer truck. And also borrowing money on a vehicle older than 4 or so years, gets harder, and can also get you a higher interest rate.
I wasn't able to get out to the dealer yesterday, because the Tahoe I'm trading in was in the shop. As soon as I get my hands on it, we're headed up there to make the final decision. If I wind up getting it, I'll surely post pictures. I have a bad habit of posting pictures of all my vehicles in their proper forums...1987 Mercedes 560SL, 1989 F250, 1986 Mercury Cougar, etc. I think I have more pictures of vehicles than I do my own kids at times. LOL
If I added dogs to the mix, I know for certain there's more pics of them than family. It's what happens when you have Boxers, or any other breed you love. Our dogs are children to us. Our children are like leeches now. The shine fell off of them once they hit their teen years and learned sarcasm.
If you've ever had teenagers, you know the situation.
