I dunno Jay. Breed is to dogs as race is to humans. Do we consider it ethical to exclude an entire race of people by law? Not much different with dogs IMHO...they're all the same species.

There is no possible way you can make that same comparison.
Well, let's take a cocker spaniel and ask how many people they have attacked an killed and then compare to a pitbull.
It's not the same. Animals, even within a similar scientific grouping are often drastically different.
Take spiders or snakes. Some are harmless, and might bite, but it's no biggie. Others can bite you and you die. So would you consider them all the same and therefore keep a venomous copper head at home like you would a garter snake?
Wolves are in the same family as dogs. The comparison of different skin colors in people is not the same as different breeds of dogs. Humans are Homo Sapiens. There is not one classification for dogs, and that is for a reason.
Unfortunately all pets can get abused and waaayyyy to many do but most still won't turn on people and attack like Pits and Rots do. And because they are so dang strong and tenacious you don't stand a chance if they do attack. What makes them do that more than any other breed? I am not smart enough to know but I am smart enough not to have one in my house.

Very much apples and oranges, the different snakes and spiders you are talking about are fundamentally different animals. A garter snake(Thamnophis sirtalis) is a completely different species than a copperhead(Agkistrodon contortrix). Completely different animals, not different breeds of the same.

Sure there is. All human beings are homo sapiens, and all dogs are canis lupis. All sub divisions beyond that are breeds. Race is to humans as breed is to dog.
I have no particular desire to own a pit bull, but biologically a pit bull is to a laborador as a Chinese person is to a middle-eastern one. Saying it's illegal and immoral to regulate one, while a sensible precaution to regulate the other seems silly to me.
Well, we do technically regulate people. But I'm not into arguing about it. I would consider saying we should have regulations on certain people, too. But that's another discussion for a different board...

Hahaha, no kidding. I'm not advocating a specific position here, just that it seems like an interesting dichotomy between humans and dogs. That and I love to argue.
