Before I made the decision to try and re-plate the pot metal ones, I had ordered the S.S. reproduction bezels from Dennis Carpenter but I returned them because I didn't like the quality. They were made in China, of course, had sharp edges and seemed a bit dull.
I have a S.S. buffing kit from Eastwood that I got years ago when I was restoring the brightwork on my '31 Model "A". It's worked well on the other pieces on the F-1 so I'd like to try it on an original pair of S.S. bezels. My guess is that they'll end up looking nicer that the reproductions once they're restored.
Well there are many different types of SS. Older may not polish up as well as good quality newer ones due to improvements in metallurgy, but it all depends upon what you have. It is certainly worth a try.
The Cosmichrome parts that I had done are amazing. They are brighter than the original chrome ones that I have seen and should hold up very well.
