Is there any plastic protectant like armor all that will give me a matte finish instead of gloss? The dash in my 1995 Civic looks much better when it's not shiny. I like the matte finish better for the inside.
There are some cleaners that come in a cream form that you can rub into to the dash...they usually have the gloss rating on the label. Usually they are just called vinyl restorers or something. I've also heard the Murphy's Oil Soap is good but try that out on an inconspicuous part of the trim before committing yourself. Don't want you saying I gave you bad advice. Good luck.

...Oops. my bag...
didnt read the post throughly, Ive only used PLEDGE...kinda semi-gloss finish. Subtle lemony scent though...works on the rubber hoses in the engine compartment as well...anyway Pledge is cheap, $2 a large can...if ya dont like, ya can always use it for the coffee table...
Detailing buddy of mine uses Vinyl-X (sp?) supposedly doesnt harm the plastic/rubber like Armorall...but I cant find find a regular source for it.

Armor All damages plastic? I've always used it to protect the outside trim and it keeps it looking great. Isn't it made to protect plastic? It's just that I don't want the glossy finish on the inside.
I believe he means "something like" Armorall. I could swear I saw a "semi-gloss" put out by someone, it possibly might have been Armorall, or Eagle 1 or whatever it's called. Go have a look at your local parts store.
For the matte type finish use either 303 or Natural Look from Poorboys. Dont use Armour All as it will in time be more harmfull to your dash. Actually, they have reformulated the stuff so I can no longer say that with any truth. I know the old version did.
It's sometimes tough to find, but Armor-All does make a low-shine version of its product. The last time I bought it was at K-Mart or Wal-Mart, but I did have to hunt around and go to a few stores before I found it. The label is black and yellow instead of black and orange.
