57 hood emblem

Is this an original 1957 f-100 hood emblem? mine came without one and the only pictures I can find have FORD where the stars are.

That one looks just like one I pulled from a 55. The one you want should say FORD

Dennis Carpenter sells a repop of the one that says FORD. I think they list it as 56, but it may be the same as a 57. I am not an expert on this.

BAAA-16637-A .. Hood Front Emblem: 1953/56 is the same. 1953/56 will not work on 1957/60 as it has a crease in the top that matches the hood center crease.

B7C-16637-A .. Hood Front Emblem: 1957/59 is different.

In 1960, Ford replaced B7C with C0TB-16607-B .. Hood Front Emblem 1957/60 F100/1100 - FORD with Gear & Lightning Bolt - 7" wide.

Then there's this, 1960 only: C0TB-16607-A .. Hood Front Emblem 1960 F100/600 - FORD with Gear & Lightning Bolt - 6 3/8" wide.

I don't thin 59 pickups used one. FORD was spelled out in letters affixed to the mesh in the hood.

I'm more familiar with the Black Hills than I am with 1957/59's, so I can only go with what the parts catalog sez.

Thanks for the replies, I checked DC's site and the one they have has ford scripted instead of blocked like the 57. I have found one for sale like the one pictured with three stars p/n BACAA-16637-A.

I think some of the 59 big trucks still used the 57-58 ribbed hood and thus the emblem. My 59 F-250 has original paint and shows no evidence of ever having a badge type hood emblem.

No such thing as BACAA, the prefix only has 4 digits. It's probably BAAA-16637-A which is 1953/56 only.

Came only on 1960 big trucks with the 57-60 long nose hood which are all the same hood.

I know of no one reproducing the '57-'58 (light truck) hood ornament. If you are fortunate to have or find an original, you should be extra careful trying to remove it if need be. The pot metal posts are very fragile after almost 60 years.

If you watch ebay they come up on there fairly often. If you don't mind cleaning it up and repainting the background yourself, they are cheap but expect to pay in the $65-$100 range for a nice one.

This is the proper Shield style Hood Badge for the '57-'58 year models.

The '59 did not have a Hood Badge, it had a Cut-Out in place of it the held a Screen & Letters that spelled out F O R D attached to it.

The '60 had what is know as the Kings Crown style Hood Badge.

I have a really nice one for a 60, and a couple of the 55ish style.
