Let's Play "What's Wrong With This?"

Hey Gang, it has been a while since we piled on some sad eBay listing. Here's one I just found: Ford F 150 | eBay

So the grammer and punctuation free description offers a 1951 Ford F-150 (not a good first iimpression). Things rapidly go downhill from there. For you youngsters at home, the combination of middle school text speak and out of focus pictures are sure to intice buyers to bid beyond your unrealistic reserve price - NOT. Enjoy:

Ad words:

Up for bid is a very solid 51 ford pickup new front clip with disc brakes very sweet 302 engine out of a early mustang auluminum heads small cam new fuel tank mounted solid floors I have all new glass rims are new I also have the original front seat new bed rails new brake line kit tail lights are new signal lights are new new tilt steering column I have a lot of money invested in this truck and I'm not giving it away all the had work is done I reserve the right to end auction early happy bidding
On Aug-08-16 at 12:52:53 PDT, seller added the following information:
Truck will need to be wired truck comes with a c4 tranny but I don't no anything about it and there's no carb included in the sale

"all the had work is done" - Ignoring that they misspelled 'hard', I love how this phrase is almost exclusively tacked to listings where the vehicle still needs significant work to be completed.

And some of those taller letters, you know CAPS.

We'll just let the mistakes on the truck model and year slide for a bit.

The Chevy Avenue sign on the garage to the left of the truck should be a huge warning about this seller!

I find it hard to believe he left out half a dozen "like" and "you know" comments.

I guess you could start with the front end being a '52, not a '51, but it appears to be a very solid body. And he does appear to have a lot of money into it - those chrome wingnuts on the valve covers aren't cheap (oh wait... they are). Not at all a bad deal at the current price, but Reserve not met. I'd guess it goes for $10k.

I'd be leery of the IFS conversion, weld quality, etc but who knows? Could be a screamin' deal.

Looks like a very nice builder, they aren't getting any easier to find. BIN price is so high though that not much more will get a nice driver. Barrett Jackson prices are not realistic for 99 percent of the stuff out there.
As far as the punctuation it is a sign of the times. When is the last time you saw someone write a letter with an actual pen and paper? I myself cant remember when I have last used script other than signing my name.

The truck does really look quite good. The unfinished state and uncertainty on workmanship will always affect sell price.

That just makes me wince. I hope the person has Dyslexia, that would be the only explanation. To me, it's indicative of the quality of the work that went into the truck. It's a huge red flag, but y'know what? Someone will buy it

But that's what's wrong with America. No self-respect. No pride in their work. No focus. Here's the way I see that--I'd bet the guy passed the 3rd grade. If he did, there's no excuse for a 14-mile run-on sentence with absolutely no punctuation or capitalization. As a result, I see it as an insult and disrespect toward his potential customers. If you're asking me to pay you $10K, I'm going to ask you to hire a 3rd grade kid to proofread that ad and correct it. I also agree with the above statements--if that is the best effort he can give the ad, you have to wonder if he even tightened the nuts and bolts on the truck. We can always tell the difference between a person who is trying to make good sentences and a person who simply doesn't care.

Most high school kids can not write cursive now days.
