3G Stress

Did the 3g swap a few years ago. Had a problem with the exciter wire not working, then it fixed itself. Now it's back.

I start the truck. The volt meter (aftermarket) jumps to 14 volts then quickly back to 12. Stays that way. Sometimes if I shut it off and re start it it will stay at 14 V.
It worked Monday fine, and hasn't worked again until this morning for an hour.

Where does that green/ red exciter wire go to? I have a feeling it may be that. I have tried changing alternators, checked all connections... stumped...

Does it matter which switched ignition source it is hooked to? I think I will try hooking it to another wire.
