Engine power cutting out

Engine power cutting out
This has just started over the last coule weeks but seems to be getting progressively worse. I'll be driving down the road real easy. Like 30mph and just cruising at like 1500rpm when all of a sudden it feels like I'm tapping the brakes. But it's not the brakes. The engine seems to cut power for a split second. It doesn't seem to do it as much under hard acceleration. Just when I'm cruising along. It's also done it several times sitting at a red light to the point that it stalls. It will fire right back up. I can't use the rear tank because I was told it was bad when I bought it. So I've always used the front tank. Any thoughts on what it could be? At first I thought maybe bad plugs/wires. But it seems more like a fuel issue.

Showing the pre-filter screen slit open and unfolded, exposing the remains of the paper element.
1) Pull the codes. You can do this without a reader. Do yourself a favor, and get a reader.
2) If you show 'Fuel circuit blah, blah, blah', pull the fuse block and clean all the terminals to the fuel pump relay and the fuel pump circuit fuse(s).
3) Listen to what Randy says.
He knows.
4) If you are running your original pump, the pre-filter in the sump strainer may have disintegrated, causing an intermittent fuel-delivery problem. Unfortunately, you can't know this for sure without pulling the tank and then the pump.

Pull the codes, it's cheap and easy. Let the computer tell you what it thinks is wrong. There can be codes without a Check Engine Light on.
Never overlook the basics like plugs, wires, cap/rotor and filters.
The computers are showing more signs of failures these days. Pull it out then inspect for signs of a leaking capacitor(s) or burn spots. Plenty of recent threads with photos on this forum.
Once those bases are covered check the fuel pressure. At idle and under load.

I'm having this problem too, well sort of, My truck wont die. I did a post about my problem. Still haven't figured it out. But it will be running fine and then a huge Power Loss! Happens more when it's hot 100°+ out! It's a 4.9 but it can Move!! when it's running fine. I'm also leaning towards a fuel problem.. Hopefully we can figure it out. I will be removing my truck bed and working on both tanks from the top. Instead of dropping the tanks, and I'll take a look at the fuel pumps and that filter (bag?) In the tanks, Like on the picture^^ above.. When, you ask? I'm not sure. Might have to wait till beginning of Sept.
