What could possibly go wrong??? (part 2)
I did start my engine for the first time since 1992 or "93. Oil dripped from the gasket at the oil filter canister onto the exhaust pipe, So, the whole experience started to get a bit smokey after a few minutes. But it did start right up with a bit of fiddling with the choke. I also had a small drip from the float bowl, which I thought was just a dry gasket. But, it turns out that the Holley 1904 glass float bowl has two small cracks at two opposite corners. So, now I'm hunting around for a replacement float bowl. I found this for sale: 53-62 Holley 1904 Glass Bowl, Replacement Style [CAG-1904-GB] - $119.99 : Champion Carburetor, Your Carburetor & Parts Specialist (ouch...) Is this about the best I can expect to do? I'm pretty sure that within a few years of prowling around wrecking yards (even up here in Vermont) I could get my hands on one, but I gotta get this decade long truck project wrapped up asap. Does anyone know another source for glass bowls? Or metal bowls at a good price? I was very surprised to see Holley 1904s going for upwards of $400 + on eBay.

That's expensive all right, but considering how beautifully your motor has been restored, if it mine Id pull the trigger and get it. Its all how one looks at it. If some old friends or relatives stopped by and you all went out for dinner it would cost that much when you graciously reach for the check, right? Well if your like most of us, we have a better relationship with our truck than with some relatives or old friends. Thanks for sharing your video, I enjoyed it. Hope you do find a good price on the glass bowel.
