My Ford Dealer Handbook for 1954 says that the F750 should have a 279 cu. inch engine called the Cargo King. Both this book and my 54 shop manual says it should have 152 horsepower at 3800 rpms.
There was also a 317 cu inch engine available that put out 170 hp at 3900 rpms.
But does your decal look like any of those numbers?

Well I went and looked at the truck. Vin indicates a 54 f800 with a K code engine. I believe that is a 317. Vin plate in glove box has been removed at some time and put back on with screws. Truck looks as good as the pics show. Probably been repainted hence the vin tag. Did not find the vin on the frame but I going back to look. Emblem on hood says 750, another mystery. Truck spent most of its life in St . Charles Arkansas but started out in a nearby city. He has some paperwork but didn't have it with him. Interior is all good except headliner is missing. Motor ran smooth. Ladder, hoses, two hose reals and hoses on top. Fire apparatus is by American la france. More pics tomorrow as my phone is dying.

I sure hope you come to an agreement on price. I would love to see you get it.
The standard data plate decoders only seem to go up to the 600 series.
Here is one of those: http://www.vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/F...3-55trucks.jpg
You might try an online decoder like this one: VINwiz Decoder
From what I see the paint code if P is a primed vehicle which would make sense with a fire truck. They would be greatly modifying the truck from Ford, so it would make sense for it to be painted later. That might also explain the red grill and bumper.

Looks like the one we have at the department I volunteer at. Ours is a 55 f750 big job. It was the first new truck my department ever bought so we've held onto it all this time. It was also what got me into the mid fifty fords and led me to buy my 54's. It's got an American lefrance body on it with drivers side pump controls. That ones got officer side pump controls which I think was more rare back then. I had our carb rebuilt (didn't trust myself to do it at the time) and added a 6v one wire alternator to her because I was told they could never get it to charge right. Now it's pretty reliable and we still take it to a couple parades a year and let the kids pump with it at safety day once a year.
