Brakes pulling to side

The brakes on my '91 recently started to get wierd. Every time I hit them to stop, the truck wants to go to the right, badly. It's controlable but annoying. I took the right front tire off today and there wasn't any mud or anything caked up, but I did notice that they didn't spin very easly. They need new pads anyway, so I'm gonna put new ones on but, do you think that will cure the problem?

Look for a leak in the brake lines or the master cylendar. It has 2 seperate parts. One supplies the driver front and passanger rear brakes, and the other the oppisite, If one side isn't working the truck may track wrong due to more resistance on one side because the disc infront provides more power than the drum. Tractors use split brakes left and right that are ment to be used for steering. Just my best guess at your problem.

Your brake caliper cylinders need to be resurfaced. The piston is binding causing the brakes to hang up when applied. It is easy to do and a seal kit is cheap (about $5). Ford trucks in these years are bad about that and almost always on the right side too. A Haynes or Chilton's manual tells you how to do it right. I know, I just fixed one of our work trucks last Saturday because it was doing the same thing you described. I can give you more info if needed. Good Luck.

That's exactly the problem I was going to ask about next, the brakes don't let off quickly at all. Is that all I need to do it, a $5 kit, or is there more?
