4.6 upgrades

I have a 2008 F-150 4x4 with a 4.6. I have a CAI a programmer and a dual magnaflow exhaust. The cold air is louder than the exhaust lol. I am wondering if there are any bolt ons to add horse or torque. Without a rebuild. I dont know what else to do. I have 35s and am lacking power on take off and on freeway. I have the edge programmer set a level 3 performance with +3.0 advanced timing. Some guy said 12,500 to rebuild with parts for 75-100 hp. I think that is too high. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I think the main problem is the 35's. What is your final drive ratio?

12000 to build for more power? Yep. and most of it will be in the high RPMs. You are going to have to remember the 4.6 is only 281 cubic inches. a 5.0 is 302. Its a small engine. the 4.6 doesnt have the low end torque to get a heavy truck with 35s to get going..................as above, whats the gear ratio? to get performance, probably will need either 4.56s or 4.88s...................

I know its a small engine. I was considering a Coyote 5.0 swap but therebis too much modification and electrical to make it work. So i am trying to beef up my 4.6 as much as i can without paying an outrageous price to build the engine.

this is what im running now 40 x 14.5R17
i got mudding with it and i still have plenty of torque turning them in mud.
i assuming you must be running 355 ratio gear in your rear end those are highway gear for fuel eco not power.
only mod i have is exhaust and edge evo tuner dont even have air intake yet

It has factory gears. I have the Cold air and it doesnt do anything but throw a code under heavy pulling or acceleration

do you know the code you may have something wrong.
factory gears come in 355 and you can have them ordered in 373 factory 355 are more common and arent good beside fuel economy.
you can check the gears without taking the cover out.
jack your truck up so only driver side and passenger wheel still touch the ground so that the other tire doesnt turn while you turn the driver manually.
it will give you wrong ratio if your other tire spin a little.
have someone make a full turn with tire.
i guessing your drive shaft will only do 3 and 1/2 turn for 1 tire.
if you have 373 youll do 3 and 3/4 turn on drive shaft for 1 tire
