I tried a low dollar column and learned a big lesson. Replaced it with an Ididit.
Ididit is made in the US and the difference in quality really shows. Here is a little tip. If you plan on installing cruise control order your column with the switch installed. Running the wire through the column as an add on is a real bear, ask me how I know.
I had bought a CPP column. I took it all apart to shorten it 2''. I have done a lot of steering column work on GM cars when the columns were smashed during theft's. I found the CPP column was not that much different in quality and construction. This is my opinion, and I will go with what I have. Mine is a tilt meant for floor shift, and no ignition. Good luck with your choice.
I have a CCP column in my F1, Tilt - no ignition switch - column shift. In my opinion it is low quality, the tilt mechanism does not lock up well and the shaft rattles every time Im on a bumpy road, because the bushing at the bottom of the column is a poor fit. A new column is on my short list, for piece of mind and safety reasons.
about 5 years ago I tried to install one of the summit racing columns. It was very cheaply made and gave me a lot of problems. I ended up sending it back. I really like most of the summit brand stuff but that one was a lemon. maybe they have improved them since then though. I replaced it with an Ididit one and I'm very happy with it.
I bought a CCP for around $300, installed it and didn't like it so I put it on Ebay and bought a Flaming River.
Don't remember exactly why I didn't like it.

I originally had a CPP column as well,, but became concerned after researching a bit, and finding that article. I called up Mid Fifty, they took it back (never installed), and sold me an Ididit.
