A couple of weeks ago, the tripmeter and odometer on my 2005 Sport Trac have started flashing on and off intermittently. A few times, the readout has been "TEST". I can hit the dash and, sometimes, everything works great again. I can wiggle the ignition switch and stop the flashing at other times. The truck runs great, but sometimes, the gauges, tachometer and speedometer will go to either maximum or minimum. Naturally, I hope to fix it or get it fixed for an affordable price. Oh, I have cleaned the battery terminals.

Reason: Correction
It sounds like you have either a loose connection in the instrument cluster or a bad electrolytic capacitor or two in the instrument cluster. This is a somewhat common issue with these instrument clusters so finding someone who can fix the cluster should not be too difficult of a task. Finding someone who can do it at a bargain price though may be a bit more difficult.
Thanks for your response. Folks have mentioned the cluster to me here in town. Not that I'm a big cheapskate....I do not mind paying what's fair....just do not want to be overcharged. I am retired from the automotive industry....radiators....and I always disliked being asked to do low-ball work.
