Well I've done it again. After puting everything back together it's time for the new instrument panel. However, there is a problem. I have a Stewart Warner temp gauge in my truck. (The non-electric model) Unfortunately, I am unable to pull the sender unit back through the fire wall due to modifications. Is it possible to cut the thick copper wire which appears to be permanently attached to the sender and the gauge without ruining the unit? If so, is there a special part and/or tool needed to reattach the wire? Does it matter if I cut the wire close to the gauge or close to the sender? Thanks, John
If you cut it, you will ruin it. You will need a hole in your firewall large enough to put the sender thru. That's one of the reasons I've gone to electric guages.
