Smoke from Exhause
I started my 2000 406 40,000 miles, expedition yesterday afternoon and a cloud of blue/gray smoke came from the exhaust. I moved it in the parking lot of my apartment complex that morning and it sat for @ nine hours. What the heck could that have been? Never did it before and hasn't done it since.... I took it directly to the Ford garage (I have an extended bumper to bumper warranty) and they said not to worry... Any thoughts?

I hate to say it, but blue smoke is a telltale sign ot your motor burning oil. If you see the smoke at startup, it is usually oil seeping through the valves, and laying in the combustion chamber. The oil burns off upon ignition, hence the smoke. With only 40k on the clock, this seems unlikely, it might be a good idea to get a diagnotstic check, and see if you have any trouble codes stored in memory. There are a myriad of sensors that could throw your motor for a loop, possibly causing the smoke. Good Luck, and let us know......

Know what??? I'm not gonna worry either. It only happened once and I'm thinking it was a fluke.... We'll see. I'm making a trip from Virginia to Georgia next week and if you see me on the side of the road you can honk and say, "I told you so."
