Another question regarding adding power brake booster
Hi folks, just recently purchased a 69 F100 long bed in very solid, original condition. It's a 2WD with power steering but no power brakes. First I need to go through the brakes and make sure they are all good and check the brake lines, shoes, cylinders and hoses (standard checks when you buy an old vehicle). The truck stops fine for manual brakes, but wow does it wear you out! I've been reading the threads here on adding a power brake booster, particularly this thread: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...nterested.html
I have a couple of questions...would it be better to just purchase a booster for a 1969 F100 and new master cylinder? Would the pedal rod be the same? I've also seen threads about adding a booster from a 1975 F350 with a master cylinder from a early 90's Explorer. What are the advantages of this? Also, I found an A1 Cardone reman booster and MC (part numbert 50-3112) here: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/a...FQ6oaQod9oYGJA Wouldn't this be easier? Also, would I need to purchase an adjustable pedal rod?
Finally, which firewall bracket would be required (the Cardone setup comes with a bracket).
Thanks all! I would drive the truck more if it had power brakes (if I can afford the gas!)
