1964 n600 vin decoding help
I'm new to the sight and looking to get more information about my recent purchase of a 1964 n600
i'm looking to decode the vin plate
trying to get more information on the air brake setup
also looking for any type of wiring schematic specific to the truck
i don't have any pics yet but did get one of the vin plate , it has been sprayed over but is still fairly legible

N60 = N600 (gas).
M = 330 2V Heavy Duty FT engine.
U = Louisville KY Assembly Plant.
553076 = 1964, assembled June 1964.

NOTE: 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog does not list an N Series with air brakes.

so its safe to assume that the air brakes were a modification a previous owner made some point during its life , and probably means the rear end might not be stock
Air brakes.... Do you have a compressor on the engine, tanks underneath and cans on the axles as shown here?

And do you still have a two speed rear axle?
Air operated axles would be in much heavier trucks. Yours is most likely an add-on, not OEM.
You can try to check to see if your axle model is the same as the one listed.
What do you have for front brakes?
Are you familiar with the 2 speed axle?
Eaton ID info is usually a PDF, so it's not easy to post a link. But if you google "eaton axle identification" you will hit those PDFs and other files including parts lists etc right away.
