Well, being that I am still learning about my Ford, I have a couple of questions.
1. I have a 94 F150 300cid 6cyl, 5spd 4x4 SWB. I have the Borg Warner 13-56 T-case, and want to know if there are any maintenance issues I need to be aware of. Is this a strong and dependable Transfer case?
2. Transmission - 5speed, I notice I have a small leak between transmission and T-case. It is a small leak that is not dripping but wet where they meet. It looks like auto trans fluid. Is this something I should not be to concerned with for now, or should I get fixed immediately?
3. I want to put disk brakes on the back. Has anyone out there already have this done? Any problems or concerns I need to know before I purchase would be helpful.
Thanks in advance for any and all help.
No,not stupid!Good question actually.Yes borg warner is a good transfer case.Thats what is in my 88 150.Still works good and its got 200,000 on it.As for that little leak,I wouldnt worry about it.It wont hurt anything. If it gets worse, then you should probably have it fixed. There is a fill plug in the transfer case.Just check it and make sure its full.It takes regular atf tranny fluid.I would just check it every other time you change the oil in the engine. As for disc brake conversion, never done it.But heard good things about it.Have seen conversion kits in summit catalog for affordable prices.Good luck!
I’ve hear of people wanting to do the conversion, but on a limited budget, they wanted to get the rear disk assembly off a Lincoln and put them on their F150, I don’t know if it worked or not. Just something to think about.
