Oil change now?
I have a 2016 F-250 6.2L gas. It has 1400 miles on it. We are leaving on a 15 day trip next week towing a 11,000lb travel trailer. I'm expecting to put 4000 miles on it towing. Would it be a good idea to go ahead and change the oil before we go?

Yep. When I rebuild my engines, I like to change the oil at 1,500, then again at 5,000 and pick up my regular oil change schedule from there.
If it were my personal truck, I'd also take it easy as much as I could during the trip just for the sake of letting it break in properly. Some people say you don't need to let the engine break in and that tolerances are tight enough now that a break in procedure isn't necessary. I think there's some truth to that as manufacturing processes are way better than they used to be, but it's always a good idea to take it easy for a little while just to be on the safe side - especially if you want to keep the truck for a long time.

with 11,000 pounds. I hope you have 4:30's.
if not, plan on being in second gear going UP...
I had 9,000 pound trailer and 1,000 in the bed of truck.. for West Virginia hills.
and was doing 4k in second with 3:73's.

Manual says no towing the first 1000 miles.
So I'm beyond that point already.
No 4.30s I'm afraid, it does like to downshift.
I got a free oil change at the dealership so that makes it a no brainier.

we have learned that observing the hard duty maint schedule is a plus...when you consider recent history of oil dilution...fragments in fuel filters...emission component unpredictability.....the more you get your truck in for "service" the better you are when the "breaks" occur and the MOCO tries to find an out to doing the right thing.
