Help with timing 2006 5.4L Triton. Getting conflicting info!
#31
Why would you wanna buy it? It's got a 5.4 Triton in it.
Buy a Toyota instead! At least their spark plugs don't habitually snap into multiple pieces upon removal.
Now to put the rad, condenser, fan, shroud, and hood back on. Time to see if it overheats, jumps a tooth, blows a new head gasket, throws codes, develops a vacuum leak, seizes the oil pump, or goes nuclear and blows up like Chernobyl.
Keep tuned.

Good on getting her running again! To answer your earlier question, that hose goes to the evap valve just above the booster on the firewall. It is notorious for rotting out.

I just got the cooling system put back together. The thermostat is open and it appears to be holding pressure. I cant find any leaks. No codes have popped up yet. No ticking noises from the lifters. I dont hear chains slapping on the guides....
Could it be that Murphy and his silly laws have decided to gimme a break?

He bought the beer and pizza too.
But your're right. It was a unusually generous (or stupid) favor for me to do.
The exhaust studs from manifold to downpipe were seized and had to be cut out, drilled out and tapped. The head had to be removed. A spark plug extracted. It had to be timed twice. Coolant flush. Oil flush with Seafoam. Etc, etc. It took days to perform.
I'm still putting the rest of it together this morning. Headlights, hood, fender-liner then a road test.
My buddy's headed over with another case of beer. He owes me huge for this one.
Hell. He owes you guys too. With all the conflicting info I was getting on how to time this truck it wouldn't be running if it wasn't for you. He owes you guys a dozen beer too!

A client of mine, whose, f150 I'm going to do a timing job, ordered for timing chain kit on eBay or so. Before he ordered for those kits, I had told him to stick with only ford OEM kits. So now that the kits arrived, I checked what he got, and saw MAFE IN CHINA inscribed on the park. Are the ones gotten in dealerships, or autostores in the USA packaged that way, or its the online ones that are like that?
